Should we
continue to allow internal British law to be controlled by the
Human Rights Court in Strasbourg, with power to overrule our
Parliament?
The power
of our elected representatives is daily being transferred to
appointed bodies, quangos and officials, and to unaccountable
advisers, lawyers, diplomats and commissioners. The European
Court of Human Rights is not the only threat.
But it is
the most important. Unless we have the courage to take power
away from the human rights vested interests, they will always
have the final say.
What can we
do about it? There is a first step we can take that would at
least stop the situation getting worse. We can renounce the
adherence of the United Kingdom to Articles 25 (the right of
individual petition) and Article 46 (compulsory jurisdiction) of
the European Convention on Human Rights.
The
Movement for the Restitution of
Parliamentary Democracy aims to restore to the
sovereignty of our elected representatives in many ways, but its
first objective is to renounce Articles 25 and 46. See more at
